Back Tools

Info

Currently for Minecraft 1.5.1

This mod adds a new aesthetic feature onto players.
Like its name it shows some tools on the back of the player. These tools are based on the last equipped tool that the player had.

Mainly inspired by multiplayer FPS games where you see unequipped items on the player. Disabled on players with capes/cloaks though :(

Screenshot examples:

Also includes additional Mod and SMP Support! If there’s a mod not supported you may request it!

Requires Risugami’s ModLoader. Compatible with Forge Mod Loader (FML) and Minecraft Forge!

Drop it into the mods folder like most other mods.

Note that this is a purely CLIENTSIDE mod. This CAN NOT be installed on a server.

Many thanks to shantomken for testing during the development process.

Known issues

  • Not compatible with Smart Moving and MineLittlePony.

Modders Yeah, I didn’t forget about you guys. :P

  • If your mod has tools that aren’t supported by this mod you may add it to the mod yourself via:-
  • mod_BackTools.addBackItem(Class cls, int orientation, boolean flipped);
  • mod_BackTools.addBackItem(int itemID, int orientation, int[] meta, boolean flipped);
  • class is the class the item is an instance of. orientation values, 0 – 3 (rotation counterclockwise by 90F * orientation). set meta to null if not meta specific. set flipped to true for vertical flipping of the texture.
  • Or… you could tell me the info required and I could add it on my end. (if itemID, please tell me the class and field instead) ;)

    This Mod is a big advangate, because the back tools still render, even when invisible. Kinda cheap, if you have this installed in 1.4+

    creeperhost is behaving weirdly – to download a file I had to 5 times click on a download button and wait for the timer. This could discourage some players :-/

    It glitches when I’m playing on a LAN server. At least with your Portal Guns. It ends up flying above the player’s head.

    Also posted this on forum in response to flashing weapons:

    Same for me, this was working fine in 1.4.4, but since updating to 1.4.5 with BTW, and HD Textures, I\’ve been getting flashing weapons while running.

    Hallo there, this is a fantastic mod, and I really love it. However, I recently became interested in the smart moving mod, and I noticed that smart moving did not work well with this mod, namely the tools remaining upright when my body was horizontal, ahah. I was wondering, if you had some spare time, could you consider creating a smart-moving compatible version of this mod? I completely understand if time restraints etc would make this difficult, but if you could reply with your answer it would be greatly appreciated :) Good day!

    when switching tools in my inventory and it seems to only happen if I go into 3rd person otherwise it is fine playing first person

    Come on, just make it compatible with MLP. Is it that hard to roate a object 90 deggres and 2 pixel back.

    If its dectecting the model that is the problem, as a demented Bullet-full turret said many time “I don’t blame you”

  25. Acthalioth January 22, 2013 10:46 am  Reply

    The mod seems to be quite nice, but the way the tools/weapons look when on your back is a little weird, compared to how it looks in Noppes’ MorePlayerModels and nerd-boy’s Mine & Blade: Battlegear.

  27. Tikikill February 10, 2013 9:12 pm  Reply

    This looks like a great mod, but it doesn’t work for me.
    It gets a 403 error when trying to download backtools.dat. That’s weird, because this file is available when you paste the URL in a browser.

    Could you please fix this problem, or explain where to put this backtools.dat file ? Thanks

    • Tikikill February 10, 2013 9:40 pm  Reply

      All right, I tried to put the .dat file in the mods folders, and it works. Sorry for that complain.

      Just a suggestion : I used a tool, then entirely cleared my inventory, and that tool still shows on my back. Is it wanted, or will you change this in a future release ?

    Really nice, only complaint I have it that the tools are a little bit too big, I would like them to be in the original size of the item, would be more realistic and better looking in my opinion.
